Create a color

Method 1: direct entry

  • Colors are created and edited directly or from within a project.

  • Color libraries can be imported into the Crows Nest database.

  • Colors are associated with projects, parts and samples.

  • Each part can have up to two colors.

Color editors

[Edit Colors] form:

  • Menu bar > Purchasing > Colors

  • Click the “Add New Color” button.

  • A new color item appears in the list with the default name “New Color.”

Method 2: on the fly

  • Toolbar > Project > Materials/Purchasing tab > Colors sub-tab

  • Right-click the color list and select “Add New” to open New.”

  • In the “Select a Color” window.Right, right-click the color list and select “Add New” to open the “Add/Edit Color” window.

  • Enter a color name and click OK to create.

Add a color to a project

Open the Project form > Materials/Purchasing tab > Colors sub-tab.

Add an existing color: select the color and click OK.

Add a new color:

Next, you'll be presented with the Select a Color window. If your business has already added colors, you may select one. If the color you want to add is not in Crows Nest, you'll need to add it. Right-click in the pane and select Add New.

You'll see the Add/Edit Color window. Enter in the details for your color. You can also add a picture of your color by right-clicking in the Picture pane and selecting change image. You can then navigate to the image and add it to the color. When you are satisfied with the details entered, select OK.

You'll be taken back to the Select a Color window where you can select your new color. Click OK to select the color.

You'll now see the new Color in the Color tab.

Now that you've added the color, you have a number of options you can access by right clicking in the color's columns. You can Add another color, view the color image, view Color Formulas, Copy to Samples, Set Status, Import from Project, and Delete the color. Note: some of these options will not be covered in this walkthrough.

You can also add a Description and a Note by clicking in the columns and entering text.go to > “Create a color” above.

Copy a color to samples

Another useful feature is the ability to copy a color to the Samples tab. Right-click the color and select Copy to Samples.
