Follow the steps below to create a new client connection. This connection will connect the Crows Nest desktop application to the server that is hosting the Crows Nest database instance. The process is the same when you are editing an existing connection. However, you’ll select ‘Edit’ from the pop-up context menu rather than ‘Add’, as you would when creating a new record.

  • This same process is repeated on each workstation that you have installed the Crows Nest desktop client software on.

  1. After launching the Crows Nest desktop client application, click the ‘Connections’ button in the bottom right-hand corner to expand the window.

  2. Right-mouse click in the ‘Connections’ panel to pop-up the context menu with options to: Add; Edit; Copy; and Delete connections.

  3. Select ‘Add’ from the pop-up context menu.

  4. Give your connection a ‘Name’, and fill-in the ‘Server’ connection string.
    (IP address or DNS record and port, if applicable. Example: 192.168.0.1,13000)

  5. Click ‘Save

  6. Enter the license key that was provided to you in the 'License Key' field.

  7. Enter your ‘User name’, and ‘Password’.

  8. Click ‘Login

To utilize the ‘Use Network Credentials option, enter your PC’s device name followed by your Windows Login username in the ‘User name’ field.
An example may look something like this: DESKTOP-M5OMB1E/Chris Phillips
To find your computer’s device name, go to your Settings->System on your Windows desktop.

Once your User name and Password fields are populated, you can click the checkbox next to ‘Login Automatically’ to bypass the need to enter your password each time you launch the Crows Nest desktop application.
