How to remove a manifest item that's been scanned for delivery

In the late stages of production/fabrication, items ultimately make their way to a manifest where perhaps they’re being; staged for will-call, staged for QA/QC, staged for delivery, loaded on a truck (container), or being delivered to the customer or jobsite. In the Manifest module of Crows Nest, these are all referred to as ‘Actions’.

Workers use mobile devices to scan the barcodes of these items through various actions, so anyone in the organization can easily locate them at any given time.

So, what happens when an item gets scanned and for one reason or another, you need to ‘un-scan’, or remove it from the manifest?

Here’s a scenario that seems to happen all too often:

A cabinet door on one of the manifest items gets damaged as the truck is being loaded. As far as anyone in the organization is aware, that item is ‘On Truck’.

However, you need to remove it from the truck, so a repair can be made before that item can be delivered.

Here is how you remove that item from the manifest, because it’s not actually going to make this delivery trip today. It’s as simple as flipping a toggle and re-scanning the item.

For this example, ‘Container’ is showing as ‘None’, and ‘Action 1’ is a generic sample. Your Container and Actions will be unique to your organization and your current scenario.

  1. This toggle is by default in the ‘On’ position. So, an easy way to think of it is ‘On to the next action'. Or in the scenario described above, you can think of it as loading the item ‘On’ the truck.

  2. REMOVE THE ITEM FROM THE LAST ACTION:
With your Container and Action settings selected the same way they were when the item got loaded, turn ‘Off’ the toggle and rescan the item you want to unload. This will remove (think: ‘OFF’) the manifest item from the selected Action.
