Create a part

Method 1: Edit Parts form

  • Menu bar > Purchasing > Parts

Method 2: Add/Edit Parts form

  • Toolbar > Project > Materials/Purchasing tab > Parts sub-tab

  • Right-click the parts list and select “Add.”

  • In the “Select a Part” window, right-click the list and select “Add New.”

  • In the “Select a Category” window:

    • select a part category from the list, or

    • right-click the list and select “Add” to enter a new category.


Next, right-click the gray pane below and select Add. You'll now be presented with the Select a Part window. Select the Part you want and click OK. You can also add a new Part by right-clicking the pane and selecting Add. Note: you can also add parts by navigating to Purchasing > Parts in the Crows Nest menu. You'll now see the added part in the Parts tab. If you right-click the Part, you'll be presented with a number of options. We won't cover them all here, but one important feature is Copy to Samples. Select this to copy the selected part to the Samples tab. Continue to learn about Adding Samples.


Adding Parts in Material/Purchasing The Parts tab in the Material/Purchasing tab of Project will allow you to add Parts in Crows Nest. Here, we'll walk through how to add them. To start, make sure you are at the Project form in Crows Nest. From the main toolbar, select Project. Next, select the Material/Purchasing tab. Then, make sure you select the Parts tab.
