Configure employee access (main application)

  1. Navigate: Toolbar > Employees form > Employee profile.

  2. Fill in the External ID and PIN fields for the employee.

  3. Review and set permissions relevant to mobile access.

  • Download, install and open the mobile app

  • Tap the upper left menu icon and go to Settings > Server

  • Use buttons to add, edit or remove servers.

Add server access to the mobile app

  1. Enter any name for the server.

  2. Enter the server URL (http: or https:). You can use a Name that a domain name server (DNS) can resolve. Alternatively, a raw IP address can be used if needed.

  3. Specify a port number by adding a colon followed by the port number.

    1. Example: (www.stephensbiz.com:13001).

    2. The app will automatically add the necessary prefix and suffix.

    3. On edit, the address will be similar to this (http://www.stephensbiz.com/api/).

    4. You can manually add these if you like.

    5. If you install an SSL certificate on the API, you can manually change http: to https:.

  4. Ideally, set up your public and internal DNS so that one server works both internally and externally. To do this you can add a public DNS record to point at your public IP address, and a matching internal DNS record that points to the internal IP of the server. If this is not possible because you don't have the ability to modify your DNS records, you can add multiple servers on the app, one for WiFi and one for Internet that has has the different addresses and you can manually switch between them.

If your company logo has been loaded into your Business profile in Crows Nest:

After selecting a server, return to login screen. If your company logo has replaced the Crows Nest logo, you are successfully connected to the chosen server.

Project files on mapped drives

If your Project folder's locations are referencing mapped drive letters, you'll need to add a helper to the database so it knows how to translate the drive letter to a UNC. Please contact support so that we can set it up for you. Without this, when you browse Project Folders on the mobile app, it won't be able to locate the folders.
