Database utility app

  • Manage your Crows Nest database with the Database Utility app.

  • Install it along with the main application or add it later.


CAUTIONS

The Database Utility requires permission to modify the database and create logins in the SQL Server. This necessary permissions will need to be granted to the current Windows user profile, or to another Windows or SQL Server account used with the utility.

Incorrect configuration of the server or database will result in loss of functionality for all clients.

Please use caution before deleting your database.


Controls explained:

  • Server: Enter the path of the server that contains the Crows Nest Database here. You can also click on the chevron to select from multiple servers if you have entered more than one. 

  • Database: Enter the correct name of the database here. You can also click the chevron to select form multiple databases if you have more than one.

  • Credentials: Check this box to use the current Windows login to manage the database. Note: Account must have permission to modify the database and create logins in the SQL server, or the Database Utility will not function correctly.

  • Login: Enter the username you use to login to access the server if it is different from the current Windows login.

  • Password: Enter the password you use to login to access the server if it is different from the current Windows password.

  • Backup File Location: Backup file location displays the file path of the database backup. You can edit this manually or click the browse button to navigate to the desired backup location.

  • Update Database: Clicking here will update the the Crows Nest database if there is an update available on the Crows Nest servers. Note: It is important to keep your Crows Nest software up to date to use the latest features and keep your computers secure. Please consult Crows Nest Updates to learn more.

  • Backup Database: Clicking here will backup your current database to the location you have specified in the Backup File Location.

  • Restore Database: Clicking here will allow you to restore your database from a backup. You will need to navigate to the correct .bak file and then click open to restore the database.

  • Refresh List (server): Clicking here will refresh the Server List.

  • Refresh List (database): Clicking here will refresh the Database List.

  • Show Password: Check this box to show your password when entering your credentials.

  • Browse: Clicking this button will allow you to browse to the specified file location to save your database backup.

  • Delete Database: Clicking this button will allow you to delete the currently selected Crows Nest database.

  • Info: This information display shows you your current database and client version of Crows Nest software.
