License key

  • A license key is required to log in as a Crows Nest client

  • Get license keys from your Crows Nest Administrator


Enter license key

  1. Launch client application: C:\Program Files (x86)\Crows Nest\ . . .

  2. View Crows Nest Login window

  3. Click on Connections>> button to access Connection options

  4. Select desired database from list

  5. Enter License Key

  6. Click on Connections button to save and return to Login window


Additional options available in the Connections box:

View License Seats Used shows details for current license key

Register machine license assigns license key to a particular machine (dedicated license)

Remove machine license releases the license key for use at any machine (floating license)

Only users with the Employee Permission “Can Edit License Seats” turned on can view license seats and affect the licenses.



Remove machine license

Select a machine that currently has a registered machine license.

Remove by clicking 'Remove Machine License' 


Error: Machine or User Denied Access

That typically means someone used the Logoff Device option on the License Seats Used window when the device wasn't actually logged in, which will effectively block the PC from logging in instead of notifying it to log itself out.

You can clear the names from the blocked list using the Queries form with the steps below:

  1. Open Data-->Queries

  2. Select the immediate tab on the upper right

  3. On the immediate tab enter the following command and click the Execute button.
