Windows Navigation Menu Customization

After an early February 2023 release, the navigation menu layout has been become completely customizable, with a new look and Skin options, for the users' own preferences.

In this section:

1. Ribbon Customization

Right clicking anywhere on the ribbon displays an option to customize the ribbon.

Selecting this option then displays the form for both packaged (default) customization or options for user-preferred customizations:

On the left-hand side of the form is a drop-down list for tabs and commands. When ‘All Commands’ is selected in the drop-down list, the entire list of commands is displayed which can be dragged or dropped (or using the right arrow) into the right-hand side panel.

The right-hand side of ribbon customization form, displays the structure and sequence of the Tabs, Groups and Commands and the choices here, determine the way the user's navigation is displayed, in the packaged or default customization.

Initially the packaged (default) Category (Unassigned Pages) is displayed. The user has some configuring options here including moving the Groups up and down and moving commands left and right into and from the command list.

2. Add a New Tab and/or Group to pre-installed Category (Unassigned Pages)

On the ribbon customization, we can add a whole new Category or add new tabs/Groups/commands to the existing category (Unassigned Pages). These options are made available by right-clicking on the category tree and selecting the option:

Below we have added a new tab (MyInventoryTab) and a new group called MyInventoryGroup:

Now we can drag and drop commands into the selected Group from the list on the left-hand side of the form (or use the right Arrow):

This new menu option will now be displayed when we select ‘OK’ on the ribbon customization form:

3. Add a New Category

Instead of editing and using the existing packaged Category, we can add a new Category to build our own preferred navigation layout. Again, we right-click anywhere on the right side of the form to reveal the options:

Now we can add a Tab and group as before (2, above), followed by the addition of Commands:

This will be displayed now on the navigation menu.

We can pick and choose what we want to display by selecting/unselect the default Navigation menu to display only our Categories, Tabs, Groups and Commands.

Now we have removed the default category from the navigation and included our own customized Category.

We can build on this to create our own preferred navigation layout

4. Reset Customizations

At any time, we can reset either a selected tab or all customizations, this option is available on the lower left-hand side of the ribbon customization form:

5. The Quick Access Menu

We can aid the speed of our navigation by the addition of some commands to the quick access toolbar. We achieve this by right clicking on any displayed command and selecting Add to Quick Access Toolbar:

Here we right click on the PO Command and select the option, and then the PO command is available to us on the quick access toolbar:

We can remove Commands from the quick access toolbar by right clicking on the icon and selecting Remove from Quick Access Toolbar:

6. Show Open Windows

As an addition to the customization that is available to us in the navigation, we can display Open Windows. This will provide quick access to current windows being used in the session.

Slide the slider to the right to select this option which is located under the View tab:

Another option here would be to have the open windows displayed by default on login, this is selected by the tick box in 3 above.

Once these options are selected, the open windows will be displayed as they are opened throughout the session. Clicking on any of these windows will take you directly to that window.

7. Export/Import Customizations

Customizations can be shared between users by exporting and importing customizations files:
