Running Crows Nest 32bit version

32 bit vs. 64 bit

Prior to version 2023-02-09, Crows Nest only had a 32bit version

Version 2023-02-09 and later, Crows Nest installs both a 32 and 64 bit version. Running the app named “Crows Nest” will open the 64-bit version, opening the app named “Crows Nest 32 bit” will open the 32-bit version. The 32 bit version will have the added text “(32 bit)” in the title of the login and main client window.

How do I run the 32-bit version?

1. From your computer’s taskbar ‘Search’, type “crows nest 32”.

2. Pin the application to your taskbar for quick access by selecting ‘Pin to taskbar’.

3. Click the application to launch.

How do I know which version is running?

1. When you launch the 32bit version, it will display at the top of the login window.

2. At the top of the application window, you will see 'Crows Nest (32bit).
   
   

Reasons to run the 32-bit version

The most current PCs that you can purchase today come with 64-bit processors. A computer with a 64-bit processor has more resources that make it faster than its older 32-bit counterpart. A 64-bit processor has more onboard memory and can simply process more data at once, making them more efficient with time.

That said, you may have integrations between Crows Nest and other applications that are installed on your computer that are running their 32-bit version. To maintain compatibility and uninterrupted communication between these applications, Crows Nest offers a 32-bit version. Examples include, but are not limited to:

• Exporting Purchase Orders to your accounting application

• Exporting time-clock records to your accounting package or payroll service

• Exporting Invoices to your accounting system

• Importing Material Requisitions (MR) from your Engineering software

• Importing Manifest items from your Engineering software

Will I recognize any loss in performance using the 32-bit version?
